Just 10 days after the mid-term elections, the
ULI Houston + Real Estate Center at Texas A&M Economic Forecast Conference (www.ulihouston.org) will give real estate professionals expert analysis of anticipated changes.

“Prognosticators are busy,” said Gary Maler, Director of the Real Estate Center. “They are unraveling the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. More new regulation is expected from the U.S. Treasury Department and at least 10 other federal agencies. A changing cast of elected officials compounds ambiguity.”

Some real estate analysts say a more solid footing is needed for robust economic recovery to take hold. They point to anticipated reforms of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, changing Financial Accounting Standards, and the actions of a host of other regulators.

Helping real estate professionals understand the political landscape, keynote speaker Frederick McClure brings more than 25 years in Washington and experience with two U.S. Presidential administrations. He is frequently sought by national media for his public policy and political expertise.

McClure served as Assistant for Legislative Affairs to President George H. W. Bush, and President Ronald Reagan, and as Associate Deputy U.S. Attorney General. He is also Texas A&M Distinguished Alumnus #115 and a former Regent of the Texas A&M University System.

Two top economists in Texas, Mark Dotzour, Chief Economist, The Real Estate Center at Texas A&M, and Bill Gilmer, Senior Economist, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, also will speak.

A panel of real estate experts concludes the day: Chip Clarke, President, Gulf Coast Region & Mountain Region, Transwestern; John Fenoglio, Sr. Vice President, Grandbridge Real Estate Capital;  Welcome Wilson, Jr., President and CEO, GSL Welcome Group. John Beddow, Publisher, Houston Business Journal, will moderate the final panel.
