Undertaken jointly by PwC and the Urban Land Institute, Emerging Trends in Real Estate® provides an outlook on real estate investment and development trends, real estate finance and capital markets, property sectors, metropolitan areas, and other real estate issues. This special lunch program features a panel of prominent experts in commercial real estate development who will share their perspectives and observations as the report relates to Houston and the broader market.

    Tom Fish, Managing Director, is based in Houston, Texas and is responsible for securing financing for owners and developers of all commercial real estate asset classes. Mr. Fish has been in the commercial real estate finance industry for over 30 years, and has extensive experience structuring and arranging debt, joint equity ventures, participating debt, as well as other structured finance transactions. He has been involved with numerous to-be-built developments as well as dispositions of institutional quality real estate. His transaction experience spans major, secondary, and tertiary markets throughout the U.S.
     
    Prior to joining the company, Mr. Fish served as Executive Managing Director and co-leader of the Capital Markets Finance practice of Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) from 2010 to 2019. In this role, Mr. Fish was responsible for growing the platform and originating debt for projects and clients throughout the country. Under his leadership, and with his partners Tom and Mike Melody, the Capital Markets business grew to over $25 billion in annual volume. Before joining JLL, Mr. Fish was with CBRE/L.J. Melody & Company for 14 years, where he served as Vice Chairman. Prior to that, he was a co-owner of Post Oak Partners, a Houston-based real estate finance firm.
     
    Mr. Fish has also been involved with numerous industry and community organizations. He serves on the Board of Governors of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), is a member of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Mixed Use Silver Council, and the University of Texas Real Estate Center. He is former Chair of the Buffalo Bayou Partnership and currently serves on the board of the Houston Jewish Community Foundation, as well as Co-Chair of the Jewish Federation’s Commercial Real Estate Society.
     
    Mr. Fish earned a BBA with dual majors in finance and marketing from the University of Texas. He is married to Shari Fish and has three children.

    Christina currently serves as a Senior Relationship Manager/Senior Vice President in the Commercial Real Estate Group at First Horizon Bank. Christina manages the Houston commercial real estate team and is responsible for originating, underwriting and managing commercial real estate loans for the bank’s balance sheet. She has over 19 years of experience in commercial real estate finance at various institutions, including Hancock Whitney Bank, City National Bank and Countrywide.
     
    Christina is a strong advocate for women in business. She is co-founder of the Houston Women’s Initiative Associate Resource Group at First Horizon Bank. She serves on several non-profit advisory boards in Houston, including Dress for Success Houston, Galveston Bay Foundation and Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She is a Board of Trustee at St Francis Episcopal School. She is actively involved with Urban Land Institute (ULI) and is past-Chair for the Development of Distinction Awards Committee. She also enjoys being a mentor for young adults through Genesys Works and veterans through American Corporate Partners (ACP).
     
    Christina is a 5th generation Houstonian and a graduate of Texas A&M University.

    Chuck DiRocco is currently the Director of Real Estate Research at PwC and is based in Washington, DC, where his focus is on Emerging Trends in Real Estate covering the U.S., Europe, and Asia. In addition, he is an author and manager of various internal and external articles and data analyses on economics and commercial real estate. He also continues to be an industry speaker, providing numerous presentations for media, and at conferences, webinars, and seminars.
     
    Mr. DiRocco has over 20 years of experience in the public and private real estate industry. Before working with PwC, Mr. DiRocco was the Managing Director of Client Services and Thought Leadership for Ankura. Mr. DiRocco's role there revolved around client relationships with private institutional equity and direct lending clientele, including global investment banks, insurance companies, pension funds, and various asset lenders and owners.
     
    Before Ankura, he served as the Director of Research at Altus Group. He created and produced The Real Confidence Executive Survey, Young Professional Survey, The University Challenge, and The Yardstick. In addition, Mr. DiRocco was the Vice President of Research for the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT).
     
    Mr. DiRocco's education includes a B.S degree in Finance and an M.B.A from The Johns Hopkins University with a concentration in Finance and investments. Also, he is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, a Homer Hoyt Fellow, a Counselor of Real Estate, a Certified Commercial Investment Member, and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

    Bryan Sanchez serves as Chief Executive Officer at Lionstone Investments, a data-driven real estate investment firm that conceptualizes, analyzes, and executes national investment strategies using proprietary analytics and research. Founded in 2001, Lionstone currently manages approximately $10.0 billion of assets, specializing in the most economically productive clusters in the United States. As Chief Executive Officer of Lionstone Investments, Bryan Sanchez is responsible for executing the firm’s long-term business plan and ensuring that Lionstone is a leading investment manager. Bryan chairs Lionstone Executive Committee and serves on its Investment Committee.
     
    Prior to serving as CEO, Bryan served for several years as Lionstone’s Chief Investment Officer. As CIO of Lionstone, Bryan was responsible for developing and executing the firm’s investment strategy, leading a team of professionals in acquisitions, research and analytics, and risk management functions. Prior to serving as CIO, he held increasingly senior positions at Lionstone, including roles in research, acquisitions, portfolio management and corporate development. Prior to joining Lionstone in 2005, Bryan was an associate at Verde Realty, a real estate investment firm focused on the U.S.–Mexico border and served as chief-of-staff to the CEO of Seven Seas Petroleum Inc., a publicly traded oil exploration company with operations in Latin America.
     
    In 2017, Bryan played a key role in Lionstone’s successful merger with Columbia Threadneedle Investments, a global asset manager with approximately $700 billion of AUM. Columbia Threadneedle is a division of Ameriprise Financial (NYSE: AMPF), a Fortune 500 financial services firm. Lionstone remains a subsidiary of Columbia Threadneedle Investments and Ameriprise Financial.
     
    Bryan is an active member of ULI where he serves as a Global Trustee and a board member of ULI Americas. He also sits on the leadership team for the UDMUC-Gold Product Council. He is also an active member and board member of AFIRE, an international association of real estate investors. Bryan also serves a board member of Emerge Fellowship, a non-profit that empowers and prepares high-performing students from underserved communities to attend and graduate from selective colleges and universities across the nation.
     
    Bryan is a graduate of Georgetown University and Harvard Business School. He lives in Houston with his wife and two children.
