• Levy Park was named a co-winner of the ULI Urban Open Space Award for 2018, recognizing outstanding examples of successful public spaces which socially and economically enhance and enrich the communities in which they reside. Levy Park reopened in 2017 and is today home to a colorful and creative children’s garden, a rain garden, community garden and dog park. The park has welcomed thousands of visitors and serves as a venue for a variety of public programs – from yoga classes and art workshops to outdoor concerts and family movie nights. Acknowledgement goes to Upper Kirby Management District, Upper Kirby District Foundation, OJB Landscape Architecture, and City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department as well as local developer Midway for their essential support in making Levy Park the exciting success story it has become.

• Avenue Place/Avenue Terrace was recognized at ULI’s Fall Meeting by the ULI Terwilliger Center for Housing as a winner of the 2018 Jack Kemp Excellence in Affordable and Workforce Housing Award. This award recognizes affordable, quality developments which were designed to be obtainable for a variety of incomes levels – average incomes of the project’s owners and tenants range from $36,000-$86,000.  Avenue Place consists of three- and four-bedroom homes priced from $239,900 – $324,900, while Avenue Terrace is an apartment complex with rents ranging from $353 to $1,311. Both are located in Houston’s Near Northside neighborhood and are currently 97% occupied.  The homes built in Avenue Place feature bright, colorful exteriors, modern interiors and neighborhood amenities such as a playground and walking trails.  Avenue Terrace also boasts contemporary designs, a pool, playground and community space – and all of this on what was once a FedEx truck depot. Avenue Community Development Corp (also known as Avenue CDC) takes the honors for both of these notable developments.
