Suzan Deison is a native Houstonian, who has dedicated her life to working and volunteering in the entrepreneurial & non-profit arenas. Whether it’s helping a young girl achieve their fullest potential, advocating for diversity, equity & inclusion, or helping women “lean in”, Suzan is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. Suzan’s influence has encouraged countless women and girls develop, launch, and enhance their dreams, provided the resources and tools to grow their business and open doors to develop vital business relationships and acumen, thus influencing the trajectory of women and girls of all ages.
Suzan’s entrepreneurial spirit began in high school while helping in her mom’s dress boutique. She hasn’t stopped since. She became a very successful business owner of several companies. As a business owner, she gave back to the community, and was honored with 6 lifetime memberships in the Conroe Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce for her efforts in recruiting members. She has helped raise over 13 million dollars for non-profits and has served countless hours volunteering. She was a founding Advisory Board Member of the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy (YWCPA) in Houston, and later serving as its President. Suzan is the founder of the Houston Chapter of the Golden Seeds Angel Fund.
Suzan has received countless recognition awards for her many contributions to our community. She received the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award for Women Who Mean Business from the Houston Business Journal, and was honored by the American Cancer Society and L.I.F.E. She was named as a Women on the Move by Texas Executive Women, a Texas Women Business Leader by Forbes, a Channel 13’s Woman of Distinction, a Greater Houston Women’s Hall of Fame Icon, a Top Influential Women of Houston, and a HBJ Most Admired Non-Profit CEO. Suzan was also appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the Governor’s Small Business Task Force and serves on the city of Houston’s Office of Business Opportunity Advisory Board and Texas Women’s University Dean’s Leadership Council.
Suzan has the distinction and honor of serving as President of three Houston chambers of commerce, including founding the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, (GHWCC) where she serves as CEO and President. Celebrating its 16th anniversary this year, the GHWCC is the fastest growing women’s chamber in America representing over 1,200 business members. Suzan’s leadership provides Houston and the GHWCC great visibility locally and globally, establishing 5 regional chapters in the greater Houston region, and globally chapters in London and Mexico City. Another example of the GHWCC’s influence under Suzan’s leadership is that a member of Parliament contacted Suzan to share they wanted to use the GHWCC as a blueprint to open women business centers in the UK.
