    About the Project

Concept Neighborhood – a mixed-use development and management company focused on innovative retail and maker space in an east end corridor – is working on an approximate mile-long stretch of walkable urbanism spanning from Harrisburg Boulevard to Buffalo Bayou East in the city’s historic Second Ward. Branded as The Plant in Second Ward, the project represents a new approach to car-lite development in a recently approved transit oriented development zone and the first project to connect the light rails to the bayou trails.

Concept Neighborhood’s master plan for The Plant in Second Ward includes 250,000 square feet of authentic retail, creative office and urban maker space in addition to 1,000+ multifamily units designed for market-based and workforce housing in a series of three- to four-story buildings centered around community-focused courtyards. The Houston-based investor group aims to use retail as a form of placemaking with plans to repurpose all the industrial warehouses it has acquired into hyperlocal retail spaces that reflect the rich culture and diversity of the Second Ward.
